Privacy Policy

Your swing data stays on your devices.

Tornu has no account and no login. Every swing it records is written to your iPhone and Apple Watch and stays there. The app sends nothing about your swings anywhere. The one exception is your subscription, which has to be verified with Apple and with our billing provider — and that exchange carries no swing data at all. Below is the full inventory: each kind of data the app handles, where it's stored, and whether any of it is sent anywhere.

What Tornu handles
Where it goes
Swing measurements Backswing and downswing timing, tempo, peak timing, club label, session names and dates.
On device
Motion sensor readings Accelerometer and gyroscope samples from your Apple Watch, analyzed on the watch and discarded.
On device
Camera video Held in memory while you watch the replay, then released. Never written to storage or exported.
Memory only
Your club bag and settings Club names and lengths, appearance, tolerance, playback preferences.
On device
Watch ↔ iPhone sync Sessions move directly between your paired devices using Apple's Watch Connectivity. No server sits in between.
Device to device
Health permission Permission is requested only to run a workout session, which keeps the motion sensors awake while the screen is off. Nothing is written to Health, and nothing is read from it.
Nothing stored
Purchases and subscriptions Payment is processed by Apple. Subscription status is verified by RevenueCat, which receives a randomly generated identifier, the product purchased, and your device model and OS version.
Apple · RevenueCat
Subscription status Whether Pro is active is stored on your devices and mirrored between your iPhone and Apple Watch, so the watch knows without checking in with anyone.
Device to device
Free swing count A number on your device counting how many swings you've saved during the free trial. Just a count — no swing data attached.
On device
Support email Only if you write to us. We keep the thread to answer you and use it for nothing else.

Green — stays on your devices Grey — sent, for the reason stated
Purchases

Purchases and subscriptions

Tornu is free to download and includes a set number of saved swings. Continuing past that requires a subscription or a one-time purchase.

Apple handles the payment. We never see your card number, your billing address, or your Apple Account. Apple's own privacy policy governs everything on their side of the transaction.

To know whether your purchase is active, Tornu uses RevenueCat as its billing provider. RevenueCat receives three things: a randomly generated identifier, the product you bought, and your device model and operating system version. That identifier is created by the app and is not linked to your name, your email address, or your Apple Account — because Tornu never asks for any of them.

No swing data, video, session history, or club information is ever sent to RevenueCat or to us. The part of the app that handles purchases and the part that measures your swing share nothing but the answer to a single question: is this person subscribed.

If you reinstall Tornu or move to a new device, Restore Purchases uses that same identifier to match your subscription back to you.

Subscription terms

Auto-renewing subscription

Tornu Pro is available as a monthly or annual auto-renewing subscription, or as a single one-time purchase. Prices are shown in your local currency on the purchase screen inside the app.

Refunds are handled by Apple, not by us. Requests go through reportaproblem.apple.com.

Full terms of use are on the Terms of Use page. Purchases are also governed by Apple's standard End User License Agreement.
Not collected

Data not collected

Apart from the subscription check described above, Tornu makes no network requests. It has no server of its own, so there is nowhere for your swing data to be sent even in principle.
Your data

Deleting your data

Everything Tornu stores is on your own devices, so all of it is yours to remove.

Settings → Your Data → Back Up Sessions writes a file you keep. Where you store it is your choice, and once it leaves the app it's outside our control.

Children

Use by children

Plenty of people learning a golf swing are children, and Tornu works the same way whatever your age. It's a general-audience app rather than one built for children, but a junior golfer can use every part of it.

No personal information is collected from anyone, children included. There's no account to create, and the app never asks for a name, email address, date of birth, or location. It shows no advertising. Swing data stays on the child's own devices, on exactly the same terms as an adult's.

Purchases go through the Apple Account that owns the device, so they're covered by Apple's own family purchasing and parental controls.

A parent or guardian can clear everything at any time: Settings → Your Data → Reset All Data wipes both devices, and deleting the app removes the rest.
Changes

Revisions to this policy

We'll post any changes on this page and update the date below. If a change means Tornu starts collecting something it doesn't collect today, we'll say so directly.
