HOW TO USE IT — IPHONE
Reading the session
Your watch measures. Your iPhone shows you what it measured — live, in history and on video — and it's where your bag, your targets and your purchase live.
Pair the two apps
Install Tornu on your iPhone and the watch app installs alongside it. Open the watch app once and the two find each other.
Until they've met, the phone says Please open Watch App to Begin. That's a statement, not a button — iOS can't launch a watchOS app for you, so it doesn't pretend it can.
/loops/phone-pair.mp4Watch the swings arrive
Every swing the watch reads appears here as it happens, with the same arc, the same crest ring, and the same BACK / DOWN bar. There's no Save button on the phone — the watch decides what's kept, because the watch is what you're wearing.
Below the arc, a running summary of the session builds as you go: the averages first, then the per-club breakdown.
/loops/phone-swing.mp4Prop the phone up and add video
Set the phone face-on, square to your chest with its camera facing you, and choose Front Camera or Back Camera. Stand 8–10 feet away so the whole swing fits. Tornu records every swing your watch reads and replays it.
Backswing, downswing, tempo and crest all come from your watch. The camera adds the picture and the overlays drawn on it. While the camera is live, the level on the video shows when the phone is straight.
Replay the shot
The replay runs on the same clock as the arc, so the moment the arc reaches your crest point is the moment the video reaches it too. Tap the replay arrow to run it again.
Tap the mode label to switch between CREST, AXIS, TILT and NORMAL. LIVE goes back to the camera, SPEED slows the replay, MIRROR flips it, and the trash deletes the swing or just its video — all of it from your watch too.
The camera must be face-on. Crest, Axis and Tilt are drawn for that view, not for down the line.
/loops/phone-replay.mp4Open it full screen
Tap the full-screen button on the video for the biggest view of your swing. Jump straight to TOP or IMPACT, step backward or forward a frame at a time, change the speed or mirror it. Your four numbers sit under the video, and the timeline marks where the top and impact fall.
Full screen remembers itself: if you were in it for your last swing, the next swing opens there too. Your watch controls it exactly as it controls the regular view.
/loops/phone-fullscreen.mp4Open a session and read the table
Review holds every saved session. Tap one and you get the full per-club table — swings, tempo with its spread, crest with its spread — plus every individual shot, which you can delete if something got in that shouldn't have. Deleting a shot rebuilds the averages rather than patching them.
Sessions can be renamed from either device, and the rename crosses over.
/loops/phone-session.mp4Watch the trend across weeks
The chart plots one point per day for four metrics you switch between: TEMPO, TEMPO ±, CREST and CREST ±. Filter by club, read the dashed mean, and check the summary box for sessions, average and change.
On the two spread metrics a drop is an improvement, so the change indicator follows meaning rather than sign. Each club's spread is averaged within that club and never pooled across clubs — mixing a driver and a 9-iron isn't a fault.
/loops/phone-trend.mp4Set up your bag
Settings ▸ Clubs. Rename, add and delete clubs so the labels match what's actually in your bag. Changes sync to the watch, and your selected club is preserved by name across the swap rather than snapping back to the driver.
/loops/phone-bag.mp4Choose how strict the ± targets are
Tolerance — relaxed, standard or strict — decides when a spread turns from green to red. Standard is demanding on purpose. If everything reads red at your honest baseline, move to relaxed; a light that's always red stops meaning anything.
Tempo isn't an independent target, by the way. It's back divided by down, so its spread is inherited from those two — tightening either one tightens tempo automatically.
/loops/phone-tolerance.mp4Back it up, and know where it lives
Settings ▸ Your Data writes a full backup you can save wherever you like. Restoring merges by session rather than replacing, so restoring the same file twice is safe and does nothing the second time.
There's no account and no server. Your swings are on your iPhone and your Apple Watch, and the only thing Tornu ever sends anywhere is the subscription check.
