HOW TO USE IT — APPLE WATCH
Measuring a swing
The watch is where everything starts. It does all the sensing, it works on its own with the phone in your bag, and nothing appears on the phone until the watch has measured something.
Open Tornu on your watch
Four tiles: Swing, Session, Review, Settings. On the Swing screen, the dot at the centre of the arc pulses while the watch is ready to measure.
You don't need the phone app open. You don't need a signal. The watch stores its own sessions and hands them over the next time the two devices talk.
/loops/watch-home.mp4Pick the club you're hitting
Tap the club label on the Swing screen and choose from your bag. Everything Tornu reports is kept per club, because a driver and a pitching wedge are different swings and pooling them would hide the thing you're looking for.
Your bag is editable on the phone — rename, add, delete — and the two devices stay in step automatically.
/loops/watch-club.mp4Start a session
A session is one bucket of balls, or one round. Starting one on either device starts it on both, with the same name, so the watch and the phone never disagree about what you're in the middle of.
While a session is running, the watch keeps the sensors alive even when the screen sleeps — so you can drop your wrist between shots and it will still catch the next one.
/loops/watch-start.mp4Swing
Nothing to press. Tornu watches for the shape of a swing and reads it when it happens — takeaway, the reversal at the top, the downswing, impact. Waggles, rehearsals and setup movements are rejected rather than counted.
The arc draws your swing as it happened. The gradient is your own acceleration, and the clear ring marks your crest point — where in the downswing your hands gained speed fastest.
/loops/watch-swing.mp4Read the three numbers
TEMPO — your backswing divided by your downswing, as a ratio.
BACK and DOWN — the two durations in seconds, which is where the ratio comes from.
CREST — where in the downswing your hands gained speed fastest, from 0 at the top to 1 at the ball. On your iPhone, a crest under 0.55 shows a quiet SPEED BUILT EARLY note. It isn't a grade and it isn't colored, because a single reading isn't something to react to.
A single swing is good to about two hundredths of a second, so read the session average and the spread rather than chasing one number.
/loops/watch-numbers.mp4Save the ones worth keeping
A swing only enters the session when you save it. That's deliberate: a shank, a mis-hit or a swing you knew was wrong shouldn't pollute your averages.
Saving is also what crosses to the phone and what counts against the fifty free swings. Swings you don't save cost you nothing.
/loops/watch-save.mp4End the bucket
End & Save, then say what it was: Practice, Round, Discard, or Keep Going. You choose at the end rather than the beginning, because you don't always know at the first ball.
Tornu builds the per-club table and the averages when the session closes, and the saved session is readable on both devices from then on.
/loops/watch-end.mp4Your watch as the remote
In the shot list, tap ▶ beside a swing and its video opens on your iPhone. Your watch becomes the remote: change the mode, replay it, slow it down, mirror it or delete it. Opening a video on the phone brings the remote up on your watch too.
Review and settings on the wrist
Review lists your saved sessions with their per-club breakdown, so you can check a spread at the mat without reaching for the phone.
Settings shows your subscription state and how many free saves are left. The watch never sells you anything — purchases are managed on your iPhone, and the watch says so.
